Teary Eyes, Goodbyes, and a Surprise

This week was full of excitement as we prepare for the birth of our baby boy or girl. First, let me just say that Jonathan and I are SO EXCITED to meet him or her. Every time I think about holding our baby for the first time, I can't help but tear up a little (just ask Jonathan...he kept laughing at me during our birthing classes when he'd look over at me and I'd be listening to Janice with tears in my eyes). What can I say? I'm a Pfeifer (we're sentimental criers).

On Wednesday night, after a delightfully satisfying dinner at In-N-Out Burger, we attended our third and final prenatal class. We learned all kinds of massaging and breathing techniques, including the famous "hee hee hee hoo" which, until then, I thought was just in the movies. We really enjoyed the class and would highly recommend it to anyone. I don't know about Jonathan, but I didn't want it to end!

Jonathan and I with the amazing Nurse Janice

We had to get a picture with Cletus the Fetus.
I'm not sure why we're holding the poor thing like that!!!

I had my weekly checkup today and everything is measuring just right. I didn't end up needing an ultrasound...what a relief! My due date is still set for June 8.

There was a lovely surprise waiting for me when I got home from work tonight...

That's right - my wonderful hubby set up the crib! As I took in the sight of a crib in our house (crazy!!!), I had to fight back tears as I thought about what a great daddy Jonathan is going to be.

On a completely separate note, HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY AND GRADUATION to my sweet little brother Michael!!!

  3. "hee hee hee hoo" is the only thing that got me through the birth of Cove, because I didn't have anything for pain. The crib is absolutely beautiful! I have one suggestion for you though, as the baby gets older and is able to pull him or herself up he/she will start to chew on their crib. They have clear crib teethers at babiesrus that just snap on the crib, Cove chewed up his (once beautiful) crib in about a day, I wish I would have had these before hand! Best of luck to you both! Your going to be great parents, and it is such and amazing journey!

  4. Thanks, Katie! We are getting really excited. And I will definitely remember to get those crib teethers. I've never heard of them - thanks for the tip!
