Saturday Evening Photo Shoot - Part 2

When I asked my friend and college roommate Nikki Zamora to take some pregnancy pictures of us, she jumped at the opportunity to start building her photography business. I knew she was talented, but these pictures far exceeded our expectations (you would never guess this was her first maternity shoot). She brought along her boyfriend AJ for assistance and her friend Zach Davis, also an up-and-coming photographer. The three of them were so much fun to work with - they made us feel like super models! The pictures they captured are absolutely amazing, and we can't wait to invite them into our home for newborn pictures in just a few short weeks.

Nesting Time

With only 17 days to go, I have fully entered the nesting phase of pregnancy. At any given time, I can be found doing laundry, cleaning baseboards, dusting, vacuuming, doing more laundry (baby's laundry needs to be washed separately with free & clear detergent), organizing, shopping for baby stuff, standing in the nursery deep in thought about how to decorate once the baby arrives, or taking a break by watching HGTV with a heaping bowl of ice cream on my belly. Such is my life these days and I'm lovin' it!

Last week, I ventured to a consignment store called Other Mothers and scored an awesome changing table for $50! (It would've cost $150 brand new.) Just like my own mother who taught me the art of bargain shopping, I love nothing more than finding the perfect piece of used/antique furniture at an unbeatable price. I smile every time I look at it!

Snoop loves the baby's room. He's in there every chance he gets.
I found the white "Baby Things" baskets at TJ MAXX on clearance for $5 each and they fit perfectly.
Don't read too much into the blue; I decided light blue will work for a boy or a girl.

Now that Jonathan is on break for the next two weeks, I have him all to myself to help get the last of the baby stuff ready. This weekend, he put together the swing, installed the car seat, and set up the co-sleeper. I can now breathe easier knowing that if we have this baby tomorrow, we would return to a baby-ready home.

Teary Eyes, Goodbyes, and a Surprise

This week was full of excitement as we prepare for the birth of our baby boy or girl. First, let me just say that Jonathan and I are SO EXCITED to meet him or her. Every time I think about holding our baby for the first time, I can't help but tear up a little (just ask Jonathan...he kept laughing at me during our birthing classes when he'd look over at me and I'd be listening to Janice with tears in my eyes). What can I say? I'm a Pfeifer (we're sentimental criers).

On Wednesday night, after a delightfully satisfying dinner at In-N-Out Burger, we attended our third and final prenatal class. We learned all kinds of massaging and breathing techniques, including the famous "hee hee hee hoo" which, until then, I thought was just in the movies. We really enjoyed the class and would highly recommend it to anyone. I don't know about Jonathan, but I didn't want it to end!

We had to get a picture with Cletus the Fetus.
I'm not sure why we're holding the poor thing like that!!!

I had my weekly checkup today and everything is measuring just right. I didn't end up needing an ultrasound...what a relief! My due date is still set for June 8.

There was a lovely surprise waiting for me when I got home from work tonight...

That's right - my wonderful hubby set up the crib! As I took in the sight of a crib in our house (crazy!!!), I had to fight back tears as I thought about what a great daddy Jonathan is going to be.

On a completely separate note, HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY AND GRADUATION to my sweet little brother Michael!!!

Evolution of a Belly

I'm due exactly 1 month from today! I didn't do a very good job of taking pictures each month, but here's a look at how my belly has grown. My doctor said that I'm measuring a bit small, so I might need to have another ultrasound next week if our little Sugar Weenie doesn't start packing on the pounds. In-N-Out burger, here we come!!!

Clumsy Me!

One common side effect of pregnancy in the 3rd trimester is clumsiness. I was so proud of myself for being incident-free...until tonight.

Before we headed to our prenatal class, Jonathan and I met up for dinner to make a little date out of it. Once we finished eating, Jonathan went to the bathroom while I attempted to wipe up the crumbs on the table, which was completely unnecessary now that I think about it. Well I somehow managed to knock over my entire cup of water right into my lap. I burst out laughing because I knew exactly how this would look to Jonathan and tried to imagine how he would react. As he made is way back to the table, he noticed the goofy look on my face and then saw that my jeans were completely soaked. Needless to say, for a split second before he noticed that the table was also covered in water and that I had simply spilled all over myself, he wondered if my water had broken. It was pretty hilarious for me, not so much for him. Luckily, we had just enough time to stand outside in the sun for a few minutes so my pants could dry. I can't imagine the looks I would've gotten walking into our prenatal class with wet pants!  (Sorry, no pictures were taken...too embarrassing!)
